Latitude N 34 42.357 x Longitude W 82 53.163 CHURCH/CEMETERY HISTORY: ------------------------ This cemetery covers a fair-size area that is located in-between Hiawasee Road and the Railroad tracks. Most of the tombstones have been knocked over and their interred have been removed and relocated. No attempt has been made to fill in these holes. The graves that were marked with field-stones, have not been moved. It appears that maybe when the railroad was built, relatives of the interred were given the opportunity of having their graves moved to another location. The new (#2) church is located at - Mount Nebo #2 Baptist Church, 225 Nebo Church Road, Seneca, SC 29678, 864-882-0679, Pastor Sidney Davis 1-800-302-1945. Reference cemetery profile C86.txt. o---------- Seneca River Baptist Association - 1982 Sometime about 1885 some disagreements came up in the Seneca River Baptist Association and the result was a split in the churches. It was led by the late Rev. W. R. Parker. New Mount Nebo Baptist Church or Mount Nebo #2 came out from old Mount Nebo or Mount Nebo #1 located on the Southern Railroad. Two more churches known as little Abe and Parker's churches did the same. These three churches were known as the Parker's Association. The Church, Mount Nebo #2, the land, 2 acres more or less, was bought from Mr. Robert Swinger. The deeds were recorded in Walhalla, December 18, 1888, at $10.00 per acre.
